The Easthampton Bear Fest is a public art project in which life-size fiberglass bears are creatively transformed by locally and nationally known artists and will be highly visible throughout the downtown area of Easthampton from June – September 2012. The 2009 Easthampton Bear Fest was a tremendous success that brought thousands of visitors throughout Easthampton and raised over $60,000 for artists, art education, and art organizations. The Easthampton Bear Fest committee and Easthampton City Arts+ decided to bring a second Bear Fest in 2012, promising another exciting summer of bear festivities.
The call to artists for the 2012 Bear Fest is now open and applications for design, description, and packet completion are due on February 13, 2012. Selected designs will be chosen anonymously by a jury. Selected artists will receive a commission(see prospectus), be supplied with a bear sculpture, and have approximately three months to prepare their bear for display. All artists’ and sponsors’ names will be highly visible and displayed with the bear sculptures as well as listed in an accompanying map and listed on the Easthampton Bear Fest website.
To find out more information, please download an artist prospectus. We look forward to receiving your designs.
